bahrainthismonth.com | AUGUST 2026 INDIA IN BAHRAIN 15 Building Bridges As Chairman of the Bahrain India Society (BIS), Abdulrahman Juma reflects on the enduring partnership between Bahrain and India, discusses the Society’s role in strengthening bilateral ties and shares his vision for the next chapter of cooperation between the two nations. “Built on centuries of trade, cultural exchange and mutual respect, the two countries have established a strategic partnership supported by strong government-to-government ties, vibrant business communities and deep people-topeople connections,” he states. Mr. Juma also points to the India-Middle EastEurope Economic Corridor (IMEC) as an important development that reinforces Bahrain’s position as a regional gateway connecting India with the Gulf and Europe. “The future of Bahrain-India relations will be driven not only by trade but also by innovation, entrepreneurship, technology and the development of future talent,” he explains. As opportunities continue to grow, the Bahrain India Society has positioned itself as a platform promoting cooperation across business, education, culture and community development, bringing together government representatives, business leaders, entrepreneurs, academics and young professionals to strengthen bilateral ties. One of the Society’s recent flagship initiatives was the AI Vision and Visionary leadership programme featuring global technology leader C.P. Gurnani, which explored artificial intelligence, digital transformation and the future of business. Developing the next generation remains a priority. “We believe today’s young professionals and entrepreneurs will shape the future of Bahrain-India relations,” Mr. Juma notes. “Through networking opportunities, mentorship programmes and educational initiatives, we seek to inspire future leaders who will continue strengthening the ties between our two countries.” The Society has also focused on creating practical business opportunities. Earlier this year, it joined a delegation organised by the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MOIC) to Hyderabad and Bengaluru, where delegates met government authorities, leading technology companies, innovation centres and startup ecosystems. A visit to Hyderabad’s internationally recognised IT Hub gave delegates first-hand insight into India’s advances in artificial intelligence, fintech, cybersecurity and smart technologies. “These interactions provided valuable insights into how Bahraini businesses can collaborate with Indian technology companies to accelerate digital transformation and develop innovative solutions,” he remarks. The delegation also explored opportunities in healthcare technology, research collaboration, startup incubation, advanced manufacturing and higher education, reinforcing Mr. Juma’s belief that Bahrain and India possess complementary strengths capable of delivering long-term economic value. Looking ahead, the Society intends to build on that momentum through further business missions, investment forums and knowledgesharing initiatives that strengthen links between stakeholders in both countries. “By serving as a bridge between Bahrain’s business community and India’s innovation ecosystem, we aim to facilitate partnerships that support economic diversification, encourage technology transfer and create sustainable growth opportunities for both nations,” he affirms. “The legacy I hope the Bahrain India Society leaves is one of friendship, trust and opportunity,” he reflects. “I would like future generations to see the Society as an organisation that not only strengthened bilateral relations but also created meaningful opportunities for professionals, entrepreneurs and young leaders to innovate and grow together.”
