bahrainthismonth.com | AUGUST 2025 ENTERTAINMENT HUB 87 With more than 300 live shows under his belt, Shelin Chacko, known as Your Raw Singer, shares his musical journey, creative fire and soulful message with Bahrain This Month. For Mr. Chacko, the moniker ‘Your Raw Singer’ is a declaration of identity. “Most of the songs I sing or create carry a raw emotion,” he says. “They weren’t made for the mainstream, but straight from feeling. No filters. No faking. Just me, telling stories the way I felt them.” It’s a fitting title, given to him by his band’s lead guitarist Abhimanyu Saharajan, and one that perfectly captures his signature sound: unpolished yet powerful. The Jaipur-born, Bahrain-based musician first picked up a guitar in 2006, thanks to a gift from his sister, Sherry. “I didn’t have a plan to become a singer or musician, I just fell in love with the process,” he explain. With no formal training, he taught himself from scratch. “The guitar unlocked something in me. It shaped my confidence, helped me find my voice, and made me feel alive. That’s when I realised it was my path.” His vocal style is instantly recognisable: emotive, unfiltered and deeply resonant. “I’d say my sound is raw, honest and from the gut,” he explains. “I don’t aim for technical perfection as I aim to make people feel. My voice carries the emotion as it is, whether it’s broken, powerful, shaky or soulful.” That authenticity flows through every performance. Mood often dictates his song choice, but personal experience and cultural roots run deep in his work too. “I grew up in Jaipur, Rajasthan, and that place, the colours, the sounds, the energy … it’ll always be a part of me,” he shares. “Even though I live in Bahrain now, that Rajasthani fire is still in my voice, my style and my choices.” Having performed more than 300 shows in Bahrain, Mr. Chacko has built a strong rapport with local audiences. “The response has been excellent,” he says. “Bahrain’s music scene is growing, and I’m grateful to be part of that wave.” His reach goes far beyond the island, thanks to a loyal online following. “The energy and feedback I get online keep me motivated to create more and keep pushing boundaries. It feels like I’m building a community, not just a fanbase.” Currently, Mr. Chacko is working on an album titled Road Pe, which will be released one track at a time. “The first track, Aise He, is available on all major music platforms,” he reveals. “The next, Kali Teri Aankhon Mein, should drop by the end of 2025. We’re putting a lot of heart into every song.” For aspiring singers in Bahrain, he offers this advice: “Start by being real. Don’t try to sound like someone else. Your voice, your story, your truth … that’s your superpower!” He adds: “Keep showing up, even when no one’s clapping yet, and above all, pray every day. Stay connected to your source. It’ll remind you why you started in the first place.” Follow his musical journey: @shelinchacko.official Raw, Real, Resonant
