bahrainthismonth.com | AUGUST 2025 INDIA IN BAHRAIN 48 Kristian Harrison visited Tanatan at Ramee Grand Hotel & Spa in Seef, where classic Indian dishes are given a creative twist in both taste and presentation, all within an inviting and vibrant setting. on Tradition Twists From the moment you step into Tanatan, the atmosphere sets the tone. Traditional Indian motifs meet a contemporary edge, creating a warm and elegant space. The restaurant also hosts live music every evening, which adds a lively charm without overpowering conversation – an ideal accompaniment to the colourful culinary journey that awaits. The concept at Tanatan is simple yet imaginative: well-loved Indian favourites elevated with unexpected flavours, ingredients or styles of presentation. Helmed by the friendly and attentive manager Monalisha and her welcoming team, service is prompt and personal, guiding you through the menu with genuine enthusiasm. A Feast for the Senses The starters set the bar high. The Rajbhog Chaat, inspired by royal kitchens of Bengal, offers a medley of sweet, spicy and tangy notes in every bite; a crunchy, creamy, flavour-packed treat that feels both nostalgic and new. Another street food classic, the Pani Puri, comes as crispy spheres filled with potato, chickpeas and spiced water, but served with a flair that makes it Instagram-worthy. For the main course, the Bhuna Chaap stands out. Mutton chops are slow-roasted to tender perfection, with the bhuna technique imparting deep, rich layers of spice that feel comforting yet indulgent. The Murgh Potli Biryani is Tanatan’s signature showstopper, an aromatic parcel of fragrant rice and chicken sealed with dough and cooked in Kerala-style. Breaking into it reveals a cloud of steam and spice, and the flavours are as inviting as the presentation. Those preferring something more familiar will still enjoy the Classic Chicken Tikka – smoky, succulent and perfectly charred – while the Chicken Banjara, a lesser-known Rajasthani dish, surprises with its peanut-fennel marinade, lending an earthy warmth when cooked in a special clay ove. Our Menu Picks Rajbhog Chaat Pani Puri Bhuna Chaap Murgh Potli Biryani Classic Chicken Tikka Chicken Banjara Rabdi Gulab Jamun Kesar Rasmalai A Sweet Send-off To round off the meal, the Rabdi Gulab Jamun is indulgence in a bowl. Syrupy soft balls of dough sit atop a creamy rabdi that is satisfyingly rich. The Kesar Rasmalai, milk dumplings drenched and soaked in cream and delicately scented with saffron, is light yet luxurious to provide a fitting finale. Tanatan offers far more than just a meal. The team and ambience provide a gastronomic experience with heart, flair and just the right amount of surprise. Whether you’re an Indian food enthusiast or a curious diner, this restaurant promises a twist on tradition that truly delivers.
