28 August 2012 BTM happeningsthismonth Head to Bahrain City Centre (BCC) with the entire family this Ramadan. Children will be entertained as they develop their creative talents with arts and crafts, learn the history behind Bahraini traditions and enjoy Iftar or Sohour at any one of the mall’s international dining outlets. Entering the mall, shoppers will be greeted by festive-themed décor which reflects the essence of the Holy Month. The Central Galleria will transform into a traditional majlis-style arena for Lewan Ramadan. It will be the main location for bringing the community together, and will host a jam-packed schedule of activities each day for children and families to enjoy together. Activities are for parents and kids alike, and will include pottery painting. In partnership with Studio Ceramics, children will be guided on how to decorate their own Ramadan-inspired souvenir, which they are then able to take home. Bookworms can join mesmerising storytelling groups to hear about local legends, and even have their picture taken with a falcon. Traditional henna painting is available at the heritage area and budding astronomers can build their own telescope to see the stars. Meanwhile, origami workshops will teach the ancient Japanese ornamental art of paper folding. There will also be daily puppet shows and a games corner to keep all ages entertained throughout the day. The majority of activities will start from 9pm daily, except for pottery painting, which will also offer an additional early afternoon session from 11am until 2pm. Leewan Ramadan is organised in conjunction with the Ministry of Social Development and is sponsored by Viva Jusoor. With over 340 retail brands to choose from, Ramadan at the BCC promises new and exciting events, foods and experiences. Those that are fasting are welcome to drop into the dedicated Ramadan Clinic, where experts will be on hand to offer advice on how to eat healthy this month. Diners can take their pick from traditional Arabic restaurants, popular food outlets that have specially-created menus for Ramadan. Charity campaign Be a part of something bigger this Ramadan by supporting BCC’s ‘Make a Difference’ campaign. Running for the past three years, this philanthropic cause sees visitors to the mall being encouraged to donate clothing, eye-glasses, non-perishable food and books for the benefit of Al Noor Charity Welfare.
