24 August 2012 BTM happeningsthismonth Little Artisans If your children need something to fill their time this school holiday, it might be an idea to boost their creativity by enrolling them in the artistic workshops at Albareh Art Gallery. The gallery’s aim, to promote Middle Eastern art to the world, is being explored further by introducing youngsters to the concept. Beginning at the start of Ramadan last month, the first few weeks have included collage and mixed media on canvas plus painting on ceramics and has seen lots of children of all ages learn a new skill and make some new friends. During the August stint, children aged eight to 12 years are invited to try their hand at painting on glass. Run by professional local artists, the workshops will keep your kids active and entertained, and best of all, out of your hair! It’s a great way to keep their minds stimulated whilst they are out of the school routine. This workshop will run from Saturday August 4 to Wednesday August 8 from 10am to 1pm each day. Anime Comic Festival will be organising its first event this month with the goal of improving advertising within the anime and other related entertainment industries in Bahrain. Attendees will be able to browse a huge range of anime, from Marvel/DC comics to Japanese animation. Naqsh Art Gallery is holding a collaborative exhibition this month displaying the fusion of art and music. Inspired by the stunning musical album ‘Steps in Cairo’ by world-renowned musicians Basim Darwish and Matthias Frey, the paintings reflect the smoothness of the album’s charming pieces. The exhibition’s paintings mimic the harmonious interactions between the stunning oud echoes and the mystical notes of the ever-dazzling jazz through a unique blend between the colours, lines, shapes and contrasts. Leading Ladies Ramadan seems to have plenty of opportunities for Arabic women to present business concepts and ideas, as following the Galleria exhibition there is the Women’s world expo. Held at the Mövenpick Hotel, hundreds of women are expected to attend to show exactly what they are made of! Bringing together female entrepreneurs and home businesses, this event will provide a platform to market products and services.
