24 April 2019 www.bahrainthismonth.com happenings RACE TO THE FINISH APRIL 19 40TH ANNUAL RAFT RACE Al Bander Hotel & Resort Rise to the challenge and take up oars as the Rotary Raft Race 2019 comes round the bend. The recurring success of this annual event attracts teams and visitors from major national and international companies represented in Bahrain, as well as prominent families and clubs. This year’s registrations will see around 20 teams participating, with many returning for more adrenaline pumping after last year’s race. The theme chosen by president Seema Baqi is ‘Challenge Disability’, and hence, funds raised will be used in projects supporting that cause, providing aid to the disabled, support to the mentally challenged and promoting public awareness and attitudes in society. The event will have many activities for children beside the race such as face painting, jumping castle, kids’ playground and caricature artists. The Rotary Club of Salmaniya has helped numerous charities in Bahrain over the years through the support of its sponsors. She is considered one of the most prominent young female journalists effortlessly transitioning between print and broadcast media since 1999. Oueslati captivates with her glorious voice and original content, creating exceptional dialogues with her guests, especially in her talk show Ambassadors of Stars which first aired in 2014. Fadhila writes a weekly column in the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadh. She also prepares and presents a weekly cultural programme on books and writers on Al-Arabi television channel. Fadhila continues to work in print media, radio and television and conducts workshops and lectures highlighting Arab women’s issues and the reality of the Arab world culture and its characteristics in the modern novel.
