KOREAN TUNES APRIL 2 SOUND OF KOREA Cultural Hall All-female Korean classical group Queen will take the stage by storm at the Cultural Hall, with an audio-visual blend of traditional and contemporary music. Using traditional instruments, such as gayageum, daugeum and janggu, along with the electric violin, the group will perform classical Korean folk pieces and modern pop covers while showcasing traditional costumes and choreography. The show is open to ages eight years and above and starts at 8pm. Visit springofculture.org APRIL 2019-HAPPENINGS ELECTRONIC VIBES APRIL 3 DJ TARKAN Iris Bahrain Turkey’s top DJ Tarkan will be spinning the discs at Iris this month bringing to you the very best in electronic dance music. As a kid growing up in Frankfurt, LPs and singles were Tarkan’s favourite toys and his family’s interest in music encouraged his love for it. In 1985, his family decided to move to Istanbul and the spinner’s professional music career began after university, when he became a resident at Power FM before going on to embrace the club scene. His big break came in 2002 with the Turkish DJ of the Year award and, since then, he has expanded his fan base acting as producer and appearing on the track lists of big names such as Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, Armin van Buuren, Sasha and more.
