Bahrain This Month - April 2016

92 April 2016 www.bahrainthismonth.com unitedkingdomsupplement A splash park is being developed to enhance the existing wet play area for children; Royal Golf Club professional Frank Murray is on the green for taster sessions organised as part of the expanding activities being offered by the club’s numerous sports sections; and sports facilities are being made more widely available to members, such as the club’s impressive gym which, as of October, will no longer require separate membership. The club also conceived and launched the ‘200 for 200’ membership drive under the slogan, “More Members. More Diversity. A More Social Club.” It’s an initiative focussed on growth and built on partnership. New British family members accepted into the club will receive BD200 in club vouchers, to be shared between the new member and their sponsor. New British single members will receive BD100 in club vouchers under the same terms of co-operation with their sponsor to the club. Representing a continuing commitment to support the British community living and working in Bahrain, 200 for 200 is also a drive to encourage participation amongst the British community in Bahrain. The club’s constitution permits a diverse membership for the people and residents of Bahrain relative to the membership of British nationals. By attracting more of the approximately 7,000 Britons estimated to be working in Bahrain to become a part of the nearly 1,700 members of the British Club, the extensive leisure activities and many social functions of the club may be made available to a wider spectrum of nonBritish nationals. The Big Night Out On April 7 the British Club is laying on a full buffet and hosting Essex-based band, The Hot Shots, as just a part of the festivities making up The Big Night Out. Kings of Leon, Queen, The Beatles and The Killers will be covered by the award-winning, four-piece UK band whose repertoire also extends to Daft Punk and Bruno Mars. From rock selections to pop covers and a DJ in-between, there is something for everyone with tickets priced at BD5 for members and BD10 for their guests.
