Bahrain This Month - April 2016

90 April 2016 www.bahrainthismonth.com unitedkingdomsupplement When the Treaty of Friendship was signed between Bahrain and Britain in 1816, few would have envisaged that this alliance would last and flourish for two centuries. This month, in its bid to celebrate this special relationship, The Domain Hotel and Spa offers experiences that are quintessentially British but have a Bahraini soul. The hotel launches its ‘Sky High, High Tea’ a truly unmatched experience which promises the best of this British afternoon ritual complemented with some awe-inspiring views of Manama. With a number of British expats living in Bahrain, the ‘high tea’ is a popular custom at all major hotels on the island. However, The Domain takes it to another level – Level 36 to be precise. Domain Privé is a unique space that expertly captures contemporary sophistication and mixes it with a touch of whimsy. The lounge is located right next to Txoko and will offer high tea from 3pm-6pm, from April 10 onwards. This isn’t just a humble cuppa, but a delicious selection of flavourful blends brought to by Tchaba, an international brand known for its premium quality organic teas. These are full-leaf, full-bodied teas collected from exotic locales and meticulously handcrafted by a tea master in Morocco, promising a bountiful bouquet of flavour profiles. Tchaba teas are hand-picked young shoots; the two leaves and bud that sprout from the very tip of the evergreen Camellia bush, which produce the most flavourful cup. With no artificial flavours, glue or staples (tea bag), this tea drinking experience is simple, pure and decadently indulgent. Such refined taste calls for something equally sophisticated when it comes to food. So forget the cucumber sandwiches and make way for some gourmet preparations. Chef Rukmal has put together an interesting array of small bites that complement these teas. The exquisite spread includes scones with lemon curd, strawberry jam and clotted cream. You can expect savoury dishes such as spicy chicken in mini pita bread, mushroom and spinach muffin with gorgonzola cheese on top, a smoked salmon sandwich filled with seafood mousse and a roast beef with English mustard sandwich. Add to this some sinful desserts and music from the lounge’s very own grand piano and it’s your afternoon tea-time dream with a view. This is not all. The Domain is also putting together special dinner nights in Le Domain and Le Sauvage Level [34], where chef Rukmal will be presenting a multi-course meal that combines the best of British and Bahraini cuisine.
