Bahrain This Month - April 2016

52 April 2016 www.bahrainthismonth.com happenings Enjoy the flavours of South Africa as the Royal Golf Club hosts a special South African Family Festival in association with Moments & Memories. The event will be held on April 29 in celebration of South African food and culture and marking South Africa’s National Freedom Day. The event is open to all nationalities and will allow guests to experience the very best that South Africa has to offer, featuring many fun activities and entertainment. For children there will be pony rides, a jumping castle, face painting, tug of war, mini zumba classes, snag golf and much more. Adults may either participate or be a spectator during a “potjiekos” (literally translates to ‘small pot food’) cooking contest, which will see up to 15 teams competing to see who makes the best potjiekos in Bahrain. Many favourite South African dishes and beverages will be available to purchase on the day including boboetie, lamb on the spit, boerewors rolls, vetkoek and mince, koeksisters and milk tart, to name a few. There will also be a craft market offering a range of items from jewellery to golf merchandise as well as a number of raffle draws throughout the day boasting some fantastic prizes. The swimming pool will also be open to all. The event runs from 10.30am-6pm and costs BD2 per person to enter. Unlimited access to the kids’ activities costs BD5 per child. Call 36 665-130 or email [email protected]. Enjoy the culminating event for the US-Bahrain FTA 10th Anniversary Celebration and commemorate the golf tournament winners with a spectacular evening organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bahrain (AmCham). The AmCham Golf Tournament: Dinner Dance Celebration will be held on April 29. The US ambassador William Roebuck and Mrs Roebuck will open their garden as the venue for the celebratory event, for all to enjoy a fun evening with delicious American-themed barbeque and dancing to the talented band Jazz in Progress. The band takes its roots from classic jazz, including Bossa Nova, funk and swing, with some contemporary original compositions added into the mix. Join in the tradition of a New York jazz club right here in the Middle East. As space is limited, it is advisable to purchase tickets early. Contact the AmCham Team to reserve your place. The event runs from 7pm-11pm, with tickets priced at BD30 per person and the dress code is smart casual. Register at www.amchambahrain.org or email info@ amchambahrain.org. A TASTE OF SOUTH AFRICA GOLFING ACTION A unifying event will bring all the communities in Bahrain together for a day of fun and activities. Bahrain for All, All for Bahrain will be held at the Shaikh Khalifa Park in Hidd. Since its inception in 2013, the event has been based on HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa’s vision of cultural diversity, which is at the heart of this community event. Local expatriate clubs will perform cultural stage shows, supported by professional Bahraini personalities to keep the crowds entertained throughout the day. Specially allocated kids areas offer face painting, henna, balloon twisters and colouring stations as well as other activities to ensure that children are in a safe and entertaining environment. There will be a special area to support and promote local artists, such as calligraphy and sketch artists, with over 100 market stalls managed by entrepreneurs and home businesses selling food, books, clothes and jewellery, amongst many other items. Entrance is free and everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a family fun day out, from 4pm-10pm. Call 33 822-891 or 33 894-916, email info@bahrain4all. com or [email protected], or visit www.
