46 April 2016 www.bahrainthismonth.com Food and health make up a major part of our daily lives and everything related to these two areas will take centre stage at two main exhibitions, which will run alongside each other. The 6th Annual Health & Wellness Expo and the 8th Annual Food & Hospitality Expo make a comeback at Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre from April 19-21. Organised by Bahrain Tourism & Exhibitions Authority, the expos are supported by Bahrain’s Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism. The Health & Wellness Expo aspires to promote wellbeing and holistic practices that will make a positive transformation in people’s day-to-day lives. The objective is to increase awareness for residents of the GCC on how to live a good and a healthy lifestyle, with various problems such as obesity and other common lifestyle-related issues being addressed. At the same time, industry professionals will have the option for business-to-business gettogethers which will serve as a platform to achieve maximum exposure for their brands, enabling them to gain better networking opportunities and increase revenue. The event will showcase a variety of live demos for the public as well as helping to promote local and regional businesses including fitness clubs and spas. Last year’s international and regional exhibitors included representatives from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, USA, Jordan, India, Thailand, Turkey, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hong Kong, with a huge range of buyers, retailers, importers, exporters, distributors and medical professionals from all sectors. This event is also supported by the Ministry of Health and the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The Food & Hospitality Expo, on the other hand, will provide business-to-business networking opportunities for professionals within this ever-growing industry, with many renowned hotels, restaurants, food processing and catering corporations displaying the latest in food produce and culinary innovations. Many varied cuisines will be showcased due to the support of the various embassies in Bahrain sharing their experiences. This exciting event brings together industry professionals including food producers, distributors, refrigeration and packaging experts, kitchen and food manufacturing equipment producers, caterers and hoteliers as well as chefs and business owners from the industry, both locally and internationally. The programme of events includes seminars on food industry-related subjects and food tasting sessions. A chefs’ cooking competition will also be held, along with a series of livecooking presentations by local talents, which will be a definite crowd pleaser at this culinary spring festival. Top chefs representing the Sheraton Bahrain Hotel; The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain; Gulf Hotel; Mercure Grand Hotel Seef; the InterContinental Regency Bahrain; and Al Areen Palace Hotel & Spa are among the selected main participants. The expo will also feature talks by worldrenowned speakers on food and hospitality, alongside chefs’ and visitors’ competitions throughout the three days, with prizes to be won. The UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Spain, Thailand and the USA will showcase their best dietary produce and impressive hospitality. The event will also see the involvement of wellreputed members of Bahrain’s hospitality sectors and regulars including Bahrain Gas, Al Aujan, Kanoo, Trafco, Aljazira, Hotel & Restaurant Supplies, Al Maskati and Al Halabi. Local societies will be joining the crowd, sharing opinions and expertise at this event, which attracted more than 10,000 visitors last year.
