A film of the famous Christmas ballet, The Nutcracker, will be screened at the stunning outdoor area of La Fontaine Centre of Contemporary Art. The film’s choreography is by Yuri Grigorovich, based on the original choreography by Lev Ivanov of Tchaikovsky´s ballet The Nutcracker, which was written in 1891 and premiered in St Petersburg in 1892. It was first performed at the Bolshoi Theatre Moscow in 1919, and shows no sign of losing its hold as the number one Christmas ballet. Based on the fairytale The Nutcracker and the King of Mice and written by E.T.A. Hoffman, the ballet tells the story of the young girl Clara, who dreams of a Nutcracker Prince and a fierce battle against a Mouse King with seven heads. It’s a fantastic tale filled with beautiful music – the Waltz of the Snow Flakes and the pas de deux of SugarPlum Fairy and Prince have become immortal – as well as enchanting costumes and a fabulous setting at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. The screening starts at 8pm and tickets are priced at BD10, which can be used as credit at the restaurant on the same evening. The restaurant starts serving from 6.30pm Call 17 230-123, email [email protected] or visit www. lafontaineartcentre.net. ART OF FENG SHUI A BALLET FILM SCREENING When? April 21 Event?
