The founding organisations are: Bahrain Small and Medium Enterprises Development; Bahrain Real Estate Organisation; Bahrain Contractors Association; Bahrain Businessmen’s Association; Gulf Bahraini Gold & Jewellery Association; and Afaq Society For developing the old Souq. New members are expected to join in the coming weeks and the founding committee, which includes the heads of the six societies, is currently drawing up administrative produces in line with Bahrain’s laws. The main objective of the union is to coordinate between all the associations and to unify their vision and objectives, to speak out on the difficulties that face the Bahraini economic entity and to reach out on these issues to decision-makers more objectively and clearly. The move comes in light of the exceptional economic circumstances that face Bahrain and the GCC with the lower oil prices and the subsequent economic resolutions such as lifting subsidies on energy, water and foods, decisions which impact businesses, entrepreneurs, merchants and manufacturers. Mohammed Essa becomes general manager, operations, after more than 30 years with the company having started as a material tester back in 1985. Fahad Albasam takes on the role of senior manager, human resources and administration having joined the company in 2014. And Ali A Mohsen has been appointed senior project manager. He joined GARMCO in 1997 as a material tester and has earned several promotions in the ensuring years.
