SteppingStone Global (SSG), orchestrated the event for BBBF members and their guests and the company’s Jean Nicolai and Mike Orlov highlighted the effectiveness of networking for connecting and fostering business relationships before diving into the hurly-burly of business speed networking. Iconic British brand Rolls-Royce’s new benchmark in open-top luxury motoring, the Rolls-Royce Dawn, made an exclusive appearance in Bahrain at a dedicated event hosted by Euro Motors, the sole authorised dealership in the Kingdom. Euro Motors GM Paul Yates says: “Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is a brand that is synonymous with luxury and the Rolls-Royce Dawn provides the most social, uncompromised open-top motoring experience in the world. The beautiful new motor car has been very well received by our discerning clientele so far.” The Kingdom’s engineers of the future got the chance to hear from young British engineers when BAE Systems launched a series of STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) workshops in partnership with Bahrain Polytechnic. The workshops are supported by the Ministry of Education, the British Council and British Embassy and are designed to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the close relationship between Bahrain and the UK. As part of its ongoing education programme in Bahrain, graduate engineers from BAE Systems introduced the concept of STEM to 600 students from 20 schools in Bahrain, at an event run at Bahrain Polytechnic. STEM is an interdisciplinary educational curriculum focused on building the skills that drive innovation and fuel economic growth for the future – vital subjects for a career in engineering. HE Simon Martin, the British Ambassador, joined in with the students. Bahraini designer Hala Kaiksow flew the flag for the Kingdom when she took part in the British Council Fashion Showcase, Fashion Utopias, as part of London Fashion Week. She was one of more than 80 designers from 25 different countries who showed their work in an exhibition at the iconic Somerset House going on to win the Best Design award. She says: “Being a part of the International Fashion Showcase 2016 has been an amazing experience. It has given me a platform to show my work on an international scale with an audience from all over the world, it has also allowed for an international conversation on the future of design, which was immensely interesting. Having been given the award for Designer of the Year was of course one of the many highlights and I’m so very proud to have been representing Bahrain and Arab women. Truly honored and humbled!” Flying the Fashion Flag
